We actively encourage homeowners to only destroy bees in genuine emergencies. Bees are vital to the environment and to Australian agriculture, and a healthy swarm is worth saving where we can.
Before you call a pest controller, call a local apiarist. A beekeeper may be able to collect a swarm or hive at no cost and rehome it. This works best when:
- The swarm has recently clustered on a branch, fence, clothesline or wall and hasn’t built comb yet
- The hive is exposed and reachable without cutting into the building
